- History of Chase Manhattan: Chemical Banking Corporation was a leading chemical manufacturing unit and founded the Chemical Bank of New York in 1824. After a series of acquisition, the bank acquired the Chase Manhattan Corporation and retained the Chase name. The Chase Manhattan Bank on the contrary was formed after the Bank of Manhattan Company bought the Chase National Bank in 1955.
- History of the JP Morgan & Company: The JP Morgan brand has an illustrious history behind its name. The ride for the brand to reach where it was, till the merger with the Chase Manhattan Bank is nothing less than a roller coaster. It takes pride in its heritage with the Drexel, Morgan & Co being renamed as the JP Morgan & Co in 1895. JP Morgan worked as a commercial bank in the early 1930's as that was the time when commercial banking was more profitable and therefore better lucrative.
